Line the Street Carol Sing
DEC. 16th / 6:30 PM / S. BROADWAY BETWEEN MAIN & FIRST ST.
A new old tradition established in 2021.
While Edmond is truly “a great place to grow” as they say, what lies at its core and runs throughout is its quintessentially small-town sensibilities. Yes, we’re experiencing new growth but it’s the generations of old that have preserved this special place for so long. There isn’t a main street nationwide that rivals the community that’s thriving up and down Broadway these days. We’d like to accentuate these inherent strengths by building a new holiday tradition right here in Downtown Edmond.
So with that, we’re inviting you to join us, our family, friends, & neighbors to sing Christmas Carols right here in Downtown Edmond on Friday Night, December 16th, at 6:30pm for the second annual Line The Street Carol Sing.
Meet on Broadway between 1st St. and Main Street for hot chocolate, & cider beginning at 6:00 pm. Then we’ll all spread out along the sidewalks on both sides of Broadway between 1st & Main Street to sing carols by candlelight following a Season’s Greeting from our Mayor, Darrell Davis.
Let’s practice extravagant generosity as we gather to sing.
Did you know an estimated 200 students in Edmond Public Schools are unhoused? This means they are experiencing homelessness in some form or fashion, ranging from sleeping on a couch, in a car, at a shelter, or out in the elements.
We are partnering with Edmond Public Schools Foundation to care for these students and their families this Holiday Season by ensuring they have fulfilled their basic necessities and their Christmas wishes.
We ask all our supporters and participants to join us in a spirit and practice of extravagant generosity as we give from our abundance to those living with less.
You can help in two ways:
1. Text EPSF to 56651 to make a financial contribution to the direct and ongoing efforts of Edmond Public Schools Foundation.
2. Bring an unwrapped gift (toy, book, puzzle, game, etc.) for an elementary-age kiddo to the Carol Sing on Friday night.
This event is made possible by Edmond local businesses and non-profits.

LYRICS
DECK THE HALLS (C)
Deck the halls with boughs of holly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Toll the ancient Yuletide carol,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
See the blazing Yule before us,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Follow me in merry measure,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
While I tell of Christmas treasure,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Fast away the old year passes,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Sing we joyous, all together,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Heedless of the wind and weather,
Fa la la la la, la la la la
JINGLE BELLS (C)
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Dashing through the snow
On a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob-tail ring,
making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Hark! the Harold Angels Sing (D-E)
Hark! the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic hosts proclaim
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!”
Christ by highest Heav’n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin’s womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!”
(E)
Hail the Heav’n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris’n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!”
O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL (D)
O come all ye faithful,
joyful and triumphant
O come ye o come ye
to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him,
born the King of angels
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord
Sing choirs of angels,
sing in exultation
Sing all ye citizens
of heaven above
Glory to God,
all glory in the highest
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord
Yes Lord, we greet Thee,
born this happy morning
Jesus to Thee be all Glory giv’n
Word of the Father,
now in flesh appearing
O come let us adore Him
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord
HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS (G)
Have yourself
a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on
your troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself
a merry little Christmas
Make the Yule-tide gay
From now on
your troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who I dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years
We’ll always be together
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star
upon the highest bough
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who I dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years
We’ll always be together
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star
upon the highest bough
And have yourself
a merry little Christmas now.
RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (G)
You know Dasher and Dancer
and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid
and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”
GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN (Bm)
God rest you merry, gentlemen,
let nothing you dismay
For Jesus Christ our Saviour
was born upon this day
To save us all from Satan’s pow’r
when we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
From God our heavenly Father
a blessed angel came
And unto certain shepherds
brought tidings of the same
How that in Bethlehem was born
the Son of God by name
O tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
The shepherds at those tidings
rejoiced much in mind
And left their flocks a-feeding
in tempest, storm and wind
And went to Bethlehem straightway
this blessed Babe to find
O tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
But when to Bethlehem they came
whereat this Infant lay
They found Him in a manger
where oxen feed on hay
His mother Mary kneeling
unto the Lord did pray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
Now to the Lord sing praises,
all you within this place
And with true love and brotherhood
each other now embrace
This holy tide of Christmas
all other doth deface
O tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS (A)
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmas’ be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days, may your days, may your days
Be merry and bright
And may all your Christmas’ be white
FROSTY THE SNOWMAN (G)
Frosty the Snowman,
was a jolly happy soul,
With a corn cob pipe
and a button nose,
and two eyes made of coal.
Frosty the Snowman,
is a fairytale, they say
He was made of snow,
but the children know
he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in
that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head,
he began to dance around
Oh, Frosty, the Snowman,
was alive as he could be;
and the children say
he could laugh and play,
just the same as you and me.
Thumpety thump, thump,
thumpety thump, thump,
look at Frosty go.
Thumpety thump, thump,
thumpety thump, thump,
over the hills of snow.
Frosty the Snowman,
knew the sun was hot that day,
so he said, “Let’s run,
and we’ll have some fun
now, before I melt away.”
Down to the village,
with a broomstick in his hand,
Running here and there,
all around the square,
sayin’, “Catch me if you can.”
He led them down the streets of town,
right to the traffic cop;
and only paused a moment,
when he heard him holler, “Stop!”
For Frosty, the Snowman,
had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, sayin’ “Don’t you cry,
I’ll be back again someday.”
SILENT NIGHT (G)
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin
Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS (G – A)
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring
to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
and a happy new year
